Interactive Wet Lab Demonstration Receives Excellent Feedback!

Interactive Wet Lab Demonstration Receives Excellent Feedback!

Thursday, June 23, 2016

Last week’s MatOrtho® Education event at the Royal College of Surgeons was a great success!

The faculty led an interesting and insightful session combining discussion and cadaveric dissection of two knees, demonstrating both the SAIPH® and MRK™ operative techniques.

The objective of the event was to review the prescribed operative techniques and discuss tips and tricks among new and experienced users to combine best practice when using these devices. This was done with two side-by-side practical demonstrations and shared with an audience via live interactive video and audio link.

Mr Simon Lewthwaite (UK) and A/Prof. Bill Walter (AUS) performed the cadaveric procedures, whilst Mr Giles Heilpern (UK) and Mr Jim Holland (UK) led the session from the auditorium. Delegates watched the procedures and asked questions to the performing faculty as they approached each step. The session included insightful discussion of the medial ball-and-socket philosophy, clinical outcomes in terms of PROMs, survivorship and functional outcomes, and surgeons’ own experiences when using the devices.

Early feedback is extremely positive and shows the audience enjoyed the event format, which is a little different from what we have delivered in the past. Thanks go to all the UK and international delegates who took time from their busy schedules to join us.
