AOA ASM 2015 Logo

MatOrtho® will be attending this year’s Australian Orthopaedic Association Annual Scientific Meeting (AOA ASM) as Diamond Sponsors.

The Australian team, led by Director of Sales and Marketing APAC Helen Hunter, will manage our event operations at this year’s ASM, taking place in Brisbane, Australia from the 11th – 15th October 2015.

Recognised as the pinnacle of general orthopaedic scientific meetings, the previous event in 2014 recorded over 1500 attendees. It is seen as one of the most important educational meetings in the calendar year for the Australian and international orthopaedic communities to attend.

The Great Debate Will Join Us!

We are also pleased and very excited to announce that The Great Debate is coming to the AOA ASM 2015 as part of our Master Class Schedule.

Following discussions and careful consideration the Surgeon Panel who now run The Great Debate have agreed to replicate the event at this year’s AOA ASM as part of our Master Class Schedule.

This means the London-based event will receive its first airing on Australian soil in October with an exciting line-up of faculty and topics to include a focus on the Medial ball-and-socket design!   Director of Sales and Marketing APAC Helen Hunter, who led the negotiations, was very impressed with the UK event earlier this year and took early steps to secure the event for the AOA which she will be hosting. Delighted with the outcome, Helen says, ‘The London event in June was very impressive and allowed surgeons to interact in a unique, enjoyable and thought-provoking way. I’m excited and grateful to share this opportunity with my Australian customers and colleagues and I’m sure it will be a memorable event for everyone that takes part or attends!

Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon Mr Andrew Shimmin will head up The Great Debate’s Australian operation, supported by Imperial College London and a host of well-regarded surgeons. The agenda is currently in review and will be released across all of our media in due course.

In addition to The Great Debate we will also be running two other sessions:

How to Run a Clinical Study

This session will be chaired by the SAIPH® Multi-centre Study support team. Evidence-based medicine, patient follow-up and assessment of treatment outcomes are now a fact of professional life for a variety of reasons. Having your own data, and knowing your procedural outcomes gives the physician the power to be able to make sound and clinically based decisions, and communicate with the increasing numbers of stakeholders involved in treating patients today.

Resurfacing Revisited

The ADEPT® Hip Resurfacing System continues to produce excellent clinical results and is still the preferred system choice for many surgeons. During this session we will discuss its unique history, data highlights and look at the features and benefits of hip resurfacing.

Event updates with full plans for all sessions will be made on the event’s information page which can be found on the MatOrtho® website.
